On behalf of the more than 115,000 residents of Boone County, I would like to welcome you to our community.

Residents enjoy a diverse and rewarding environment with all the amenities of a metropolitan area but with the charm and hospitality of a small town. Boone County boasts the highest per capita income in the State of Kentucky, and ranks in the top 10% in the nation among all counties. We are home to over 56,764 jobs and more than 899 companies, including 97 internationally based companies. With over 40 miles of Ohio River shoreline and home to the Cincinnati–Northern Kentucky International Airport, Boone County offers great neighborhoods, schools, and shopping.

Study Finds Boone Healthy

Boone County residents are making strides to be healthy but more work needs to be done, according to a national report. A report released last month ranked Boone County No. 1 in health outcomes (mortality and morbidity) in Kentucky.

Boone County Buying Forest Land

Boone County has agreed to buy 181.4 acres of forested land in western Boone County from a nonprofit group. The Boone County Fiscal Court on March 2 approved using a state grant to purchase two parcels called Dinsmore Woods and Boone Cliffs.

Boone County Leaving Cable Board

Boone County plans to be operating its own cable television franchise starting in the summer of 2011. The Boone County Fiscal Court on March 2 unanimously approved an ordinance that tells the Telecommunications Board of Northern Kentucky that it plans to leave the organization effective June 30, 2011.

The U.S. Constitution empowers Congress to undertake a census to count every person living in the United States of America and to use that count to determine representation in Congress. The first census began more than a year after the inauguration of President George Washington and in the first meeting of Congress.

Boone Plans To Save On Debt

Burlington, KY–Boone County expects to save about $83,000 by refinancing some of its debt. The Boone County Fiscal Court on Feb. 16 unanimously approved refinancing bonds that paid for golf course improvements and a new firehouse for the Walton Fire Protection District. The county owns Boone Links and Lassing Pointe golf courses.

Boone Salt Supplies In Good Shape

Burlington, KY–Local governments in Boone County say they have enough salt to treat icy roads for the rest of the winter even though the area has been hammered with record snowfall this month. Boone County Engineer Greg Sketch said the county has used about 5,000 to 5,500 tons of salt, costing about $325,000. He said the county has plenty of it.

Boone Expects Balanced Budget

Burlington, KY–Boone County government should end the current fiscal year on June 30 with a balanced budget, despite the Great Recession and some revenue being down. "We are spending less and we couldn’t be doing it without all of our departments and the sacrifices they’re making," Judge–Executive Gary Moore said.

Boone Passes Bond Ordinance, Energy Contract

Burlington, KY– It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Boone County Fiscal Court was going to approve a bond ordinance Tuesday night. Judge–executive Gary Moore and County Commissioners Charlie Kenner and Terri Moore had already expressed support for the refinancing of existing bonds, and the issuance of new bonds for an energy program.
